Nehemiah 2:20 says, So I answered them, and said to them, ‘’The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build…”

In the above verse Nehemiah speaks to his enemies that the God of heaven Himself will prosper them in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem and therefore the servants of God will arise and build. Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the king of Persia. Nehemiah heard from his brother Hanani that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and the gates were burnt with fire. He then spent three to four months mourning, weeping, fasting and praying (Nehemiah 1:4).

Nehemiah’s enemies (Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem) laughed and despised him. But Nehemiah was not intimidated by their scoffs or threats. In spite of all opposition, difficulties and discouragements, Nehemiah challenged the Jews, the priests, the nobles, and the officials to build the walls of Jerusalem. They responded well to this challenge saying, ‘Let us rise up and build’ (Nehemiah 2:18).Then together with the priests, the nobles, the officials Nehemiah built the walls of Jerusalem in fifty two days. What an amazing thing that is!

Dear saints of God, America needs God’s people like Nehemiah who will rebuild the walls that are broken down in each of the seven spheres of influence namely the church, government, media, business, entertainment, education and family. Lift up your eyes and see what is happening all around you. We have seen over 7 million illegal immigrants come into the US in the last couple years through our open borders. There are issues in our nation like corruption, gender identity issues among the youth, media not being truthful, liberal curricula in our public schools, wokism in churches, censorship in business and the list goes on.

God is looking for His people who will not only stand in the gap and pray for America but would start rebuilding the walls that are broken down. Would you say, ‘Lord, make me a Nehemiah for America’? Though you may feel that it is not impacting you directly today, it is just a matter of time. So we all must respond to the situation. Time is running out and the need is urgent. America must turn back to God and the revival that we are contending for is the only hope for the nation.

In conclusion, when we fast, mourn, weep and pray like Nehemiah, God will bring healing to America. When we roll our sleeves and work for God’s kingdom with clean hands and pure hearts, we will surely be able to rebuild the walls that are broken down.  Amen.
