WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE

Paul writes to the Corinthians that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor 10:4). As the body of Christ, we are promised the victory but the enemy is continually at work making plans to devour us. We have to be ‘on guard’ all the time.

We need to know the kind of weapons we have in Christ. The Body of Christ is given ‘stronger weapons’ and ‘greater power than the enemy to stop the enemy. The Bible says, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). You and Christ are always the ‘majority’ no matter what kind of enemy comes against you.

1. Weapon of the name of Jesus:

Paul writes to the Colossians, ‘…whatever you do in word or deed, do ‘all’ in the name of our Lord Jesus’ (Col 3:16). Notice the word “all”. When we say or do things in the name of Jesus, the enemy cannot have his way in that word of deed. The enemy is bound, when the name of Jesus is used. He is so fearful at the ‘name of Jesus’. He knows that every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that ‘Jesus is Lord’

David had to face a giant in his life by name Goliath. David’s strength was no match for that giant’s strength but the name in which David went for battle was what made him win the battle. That name is the “name of the Lord”. David said, ‘I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel’ (1 Sam 17:45)

2. Weapon of the blood of Jesus:

God does not want you to be always defending yourself. He wants you to proceed in the battle and become an over comer. How can you proceed and overcome the enemy? Only by the Blood of the lamb that was shed on Calvary. Rev 12:11 says, ‘…they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the lamb’.

The Israelites applied the blood of the lamb on both the door posts and the angel of death would just pass by and not enter their house. Read Ex 12:7 and 23. But he went into the homes which did not have the “blood of the lamb” on the door posts.

Do you have the blood of the lamb on your door posts? Are you in a situation where the enemy is having his way in your family? Has he entered your home already? You have a way out! Apply the blood of Jesus and watch what happens. Anoint your house with oil and claim the blood of Jesus on your house and house hold. You will soon see the enemy running away from you.

Jesus shed His blood and defeated Satan on the cross of Calvary. Now it becomes our responsibility to claim the ‘Blood of Jesus’ upon our lives, our families and our children. The Blood of Jesus can make you an over comer!

3. Weapon of the word of God:

Paul writes to the Ephesians that, ‘…sword of the spirit which is the word of God’ (Eph 6:17). The word of God is sharper than any two edged sword ( Heb 4:12).

When the enemy came to Jesus, He used the word of God to defeat him. He confessed the word of God. There is great power in ‘your confession’. What is your confession like today? Is it filled with fear and doubt? Begin confession the word of God that applies to the situation of yours. Do not get discouraged? The Lord is on your side! Use the word of God!

4. Weapon of the ‘Sprit of God’

Is 59:19 says, ‘When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Sprit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him’. Zac 4:6 says, ‘Not by might not by power but by My spirit says the Lord’. 2 Cor 3:17 says, ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty’.

Acts 10:38 says, ‘how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

The same Holy Spirit who was upon Jesus is upon you. Jesus delivered people who were oppressed by the devil. In the same way, you cannot only be free from the devil, but deliver people who are oppressed by the devil.

Dear child of God, do not be intimidated by the situation you are in. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. When God is for us who can be against us? No one! No devil in hell can over come us. We are the over comers. Victory belongs to us. We are fighting a winning battle in Jesus name! Amen.

May the Lord help you be victorious and make you an over comer in Christ Jesus. Amen.
