PRICE IS PAID
By Jemima Rayan
At the cross of Calvary,
Jesus shed his precious blood to set us free. We were once
aliens and slaves to sin. But the
Lord Jesus paid the price on our behalf to set us free. This
is what the Bible calls “redemption”. Christ redeemed
us from sin.
1
Corinthians 6:20 says, “For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which
are God’s”.
Ephesians
1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through
His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches
of His grace”.
Christ died for us to
redeem us from the clutches of sin. Paul
writes to the Galatians, “I have been crucified
with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in
me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith
in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians
2:20)
Reconciliation by the Blood of Jesus:
The
Bible declares in Colossians 1:19-22, “For it pleased
the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by
Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things
on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the
blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies
in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconcile in the
body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless
and above reproach in His sight”.
Our God is a God of love. God loved man with an eternal love.
His love never changes. But, the sin has compelled God to become
an opponent. Though the love of God toward man remains the
same, the sin made it impossible for Him to admit man into
fellowship with Himself. Therefore Christ came into this world
to pay the price
Old Covenant:
In the Old Testament days, God instructed man to offer sacrifices.
These animals symbolically bore the punishment of sin that
the people deserved. The sacrifice had to be made over and
over again.
Secondly, the gentiles were excluded from the family of God
because they were not part of the old covenant.
Ephesians
2:12 says, “that at that time you were without
Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers
from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God
in the world”.
The Old Covenant was
just a shadow of what was coming later. Hebrews
10:1 says, “For the law having a shadow of the
good things to come and not the very image of the things can
never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually
year by year, make those who approach perfect”.
New Covenant:
In the New covenant,
God sent Jesus to die on the cross once and for all. Hebrews
10:10 says, “…we have been
sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ
once for all”. In the New Covenant, the Jews and the
Gentiles were made one. There is no division between the Jews
and the Gentiles. God has broken down the middle wall of separation
so that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through
the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.
Family of God:
Ephesians
2:13-14,16 says, “But now in Christ Jesus
you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood
of Christ”.
God made the Jews and the Gentiles fellow citizens with the
saints and members of the household of God.
Ephesians
2:19 says, “Now, therefore, you are no longer
strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints
and members of the household of God”.
Thank God for our position in Christ. We are no longer strangers.
We are children of the Most High God. Christ has broken the
middle wall with His blood. Hallelujah!
May the Lord strengthen
the relationship we have in Christ Jesus. Amen.
