It is fitting for us to know the power of Jesus' resurrection in this Holy week as the people call it. Resurrection is the greatest event that draws the line between we Christians and the rest of the religions. None of the other leader rose from the dead. They are all in their respective graves. Only the tomb of Jesus is empty. Hallelujah!

Paul, the great apostle writes in Philippians 3:10 that, 'that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being conformed to His death'. One can really appreciate the desire this great apostle had. Every believer longs to know the power of His resurrection.

The message of the cross:

The most complete event that ever happened in the history is the death of Christ on the cross of Calvary. God did nothing undone at Calvary. Jesus triumphed over it all.

Four major things happened at the cross of Calvary. They are:

1. Curse:
Every curse is broken. Gal 3:13 says, 'Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written cursed is everyone who hangs on the tree)'.

2. Sickness:
Every sickness was borne and every work of the enemy was destroyed. Jesus became our substitute. He died in our place. By His stripes we were healed (1 Pet 2:24).

3. Prosperity:
He became poor that we might be made rich 2 Cor 8:9 says, '…Jesus Christ though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty may become rich'.

4. Life:
He died so that we might live 1 Cor 15:22 says, 'For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive'. Isn't that awesome!

Jesus rose from the dead:

Easter is not all about bunnies and eggs. It is more than that. When Jesus rose from the dead, he defeated Satan, hell and the grave. On the third day, the tomb could not hold Jesus. He came out of the tomb victoriously. Even today, we have the empty grave to prove that our Savior lives.

Paul says in Rom 14:9... Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 2Cor 5:15 declares...He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

Note the word "all". Jesus died for all and rose for all. That is the good news. He lives for us. He lives to live in us. He lives for evermore.

He is coming back:

The disciples stood and gazed at the ascension of Jesus Christ. Acts 1:11 says, 'This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven'.

We have a purpose to live on this earth. He saved us so that the world could see the beauty of Jesus in us. We are the ambassadors of Christ, reflecting His holiness and righteousness. We are God representatives, reflecting the very nature of Christ.

Jesus promised the disciples that He would return. We are living in the end times. Jesus has given us the assurance that He will take us home.

While we live in this earth, God wants us to know Him better every day. We need to know the resurrection power like Paul so that the life of Christ could be lived through us.

May we know the power of His resurrection in Jesus' name. Amen.
