LIGHT IN YOUR DWELLING
By Jemima Rayan
God always intended His children
to stand out in the darkness, as light. God intended you to be
full of light. You were never made to experience all the turmoil
that the world goes through. You are made different. You are called
to be peculiar. You are made to be victorious. God wants you to
be an over comer. He wants you to be the head.
Exo
10:23 says, 'They (Egyptians) did not see one another; nor did
anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children
of Israel had light in their dwellings'. Thick darkness
covered the Egyptians but there was light in the dwelling of the
children of Israel. Isn't this a thrilling example of how God
wants us to live?
In the Old Testament, God did
so many miracles for the children of Israel. The Egyptians knew
very well that the Lord God was with them. The same can be true
to this day.
The Devil is a liar:
The devil always tells us that
we are not going to make it. He always tries to discourage us
by showing us that which is not the truth. He will try to talk
you out of the Word of God. Some have yielded to the lies of the
devil.
The Lord is faithful, who
will establish you and guard you from the evil one (2 Thes 3:3).
Serve notice on the devil. Paint
spiritual warning signs for the devil:
Tell him, "Back up devil.
You cannot come near my dwelling. My house belongs to God. My
children belong to God. My family belongs to God ". Tell
him that you resist him in Jesus name and you will see him fleeing
from you and your dwelling place.
Jesus bore our burden, poverty,
sin and sickness on the cross of Calvary. Satan can do nothing
about it. He can do nothing to reverse it. But he is going to
challenge you on it. Don't be surprised when the situations get
tough. The devil may push you to the cliff but he cannot push
you off the cliff. Amen!
The Lord will arise over you:
We see darkness everywhere. We
see the threats of terrorism, the crumbling economy and the fear
of death everywhere. When we turn on the television, we hear war
and rumors of war everywhere.
'The
darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon
you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness
of your rising' (Isaiah 60:3)`
Jesus
said, 'You are the light of the world'. (Matt 5:14)
What is steering your life today?
Is it the news reports or the lies of Satan? We should never get
bogged down by the things around us but instead, should stand
on God's word which is the anchor in the times of trouble. The
Lord said He will arise over you. Like how the sun rises in the
morning! You can be rest assured that if the Lord said it, he
will do it. He is faithful. He will surely come through.
Ps 46:1 says, "God
is the very present help in the time of trouble ".
You are more than a conquerer:
The Apostle Paul saw persecution,
distress and famine around him. But
he said, 'Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors
through Him who loved us' (Rom 8:37). He says, ' thanks be to
God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore
be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,
knowing that your labor is not vain in the Lord (1 Cor 15:57,
58). As children of the Most High God, we need to have
our mind fixed on God. How must we live? By faith in God that
He is well able to carry us through.
Difference between the righteous
and the wicked:
'The
path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter
unto the perfect day, The way of the wicked is like darkness;
They do not know what makes them stumble' (Proverbs 4:18, 19)
Then
you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked,
between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him (Malachi
3: 18)
Do not hold back. Put the Word
of God to work in your life. The rich blessings belong to those
who believe. Use the Word of God to draw a hedge around your dwelling.
I am not saying you will not confront a difficulty. What I am
saying is, in all these, you will be a conqueror. You are called
to be victorious. You are a head and not a tail. That is God's
Word for His children. We are children of victory.
You are called to be peculiar.
It may sound strange but it is true. 1
Pet 2:9 says, 'But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the
praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous
light'.
God wants us to stand out from
the rest of the crowd as living proof. Challenging times are inevitable.
You have to stand in faith and faith alone. You must endure hardship
as a good soldier says the Word of God. The Lord who has called
you is faithful!
May the Lord help
you to be the light in the midst of darkness. Amen
