FIGHT
OF FAITH
By Jemima Rayan
Paul writes to Timothy
in 1 Timothy 6:12 says, “ Fight
the good fight of faith”. The one and only fight that
we, as believers have to fight all our lives is the fight
of faith. Some says that they are fighting sickness and disease.
Well, they don’t have to. We don’t fight sickness.
We just receive our healing. Some say they are fighting the
devil. We are not any match for the devil. Jesus has already
fought the victory for us. The only fight a believer is called
to fight is the ‘fight of faith’.
If there is a fight then there should be enemies to fight
against.We may call it hinderances.
Rom
10:17, “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by
the word of God”. Many compare themselves with someone
who has faith and confess that they do not have faith. You
cannot get faith by praying for faith. Lack of faith is because
of lack of knowledge of the scripture. Lack of knowledge
of scripture is because of lack of word. If you and I take
time to feed on the word of God and listen to good teaching
then we will have faith. Faith will come to your spirit as
you feed on the Word of God. Lack of knowledge will hold
us in bondage. Faith will grow with understanding of the
word. Hallelujah!
Our place in Christ
and Christ’s place in us is something
that every believer should be aware of. When you notice the
words, “In Christ”, “In whom” and “In
Him” , make sure you understand what it stands for.
2 Cor 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold,
all things have become new.” New creation means we
have the newness of Christ on the inside of us. Many don’t
know that they are new creations. Because they have always
had this “old sinner” syndrome in them. They
know that their sins are forgiven. We are not just forgiven
sinners. We are not mere church members. We are “new
creations”. We have the nature of God in our spirits.
We are joint heirs. When we know who we are in Christ, it
makes all the difference.
Our knowledge of the
righteousness in Christ contributes to faith. Ps 32 says
Blessed is the man whose sins are forgiven.
God did not make a unrighteous new creature but a righteous
new creature. 2 Cor 5:21, “we might become the righteousness
of God in Christ”. Say “I am the righteousness
of God in Christ”. We are the righteousness of God.
1 John 1:9 declares, “If we confess our sins He is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness”. The blood of Jesus cleanses
us from all unrighteousness Hallelujah to Jesus. You and
I are the righteousness of God in Christ.
We have the right to use the name of the Lord Jesus: Whatsoever
you ask the Father in My name, My Father will do it. When
we know what that name will do, we can overcome the devil
in every situation. Name of Jesus brings victory in your
life.
Lack of acting on
the word is a great hindrance to faith. Some try to believe
the word. The Bible says, “Trust
in the Lord with all your heart”. “What has God
said” is what we should ask and put it to action all
that the word says. Ask this question to yourself, “Have
I acted like that verse of scripture was true”.
Heb
4:14 says, “…Let us hold fast our confession”.
Our faith keeps pace with our confession. Romans 10:10,”Confession
brings salvation to you. Mark 11:23, “…Whosoever
say to the mountain”. We become what we confess. Some
always talk about their lack of money, lack of ability, lack
of this and lack of that. There is a spiritual law “Our
confession rule us”. Look at the woman with an issue
of blood. Mark 5:28 says, “For she said …”.
vs 34 says, “your faith has made you well. Remember
your faith has the ability to make you well.
What is the area in
your life that you are not happy about? God’s word
is the answer. You are a new creature. You are the righteousness
of God in Christ Jesus. You have the
right to use the name of Jesus in that situation. Take the
word of God and begin to act on it. Make is your confession.
Then, you will see that your faith has the ability to make
you well.
May the Lord enable you to fight the good fight of faith
in Jesus name. Amen.
