EYES OF THE LORD
By Jemima Rayan
Hagar was the first one to recognize
the Lord as One who sees. She was treated by her mistress harshly
and so, she fled from her presence. She called the name of the
Lord who spoke to her, "You are the God who sees" in
Gen 16:13.. That is when, the 'Angel of the Lord ' found her by
a spring of water in the wilderness.
Are you going through some wilderness
in your life? Cheer up! Dear child of God, 'the eyes of the Lord'
is upon you. He knows what you are going through. He sees the
end from the beginning.
What does the 'eyes of the
Lord' do?
1. Sees your 'substance':
The Psalmist says, 'Your
eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed' (Ps 139:16).
Substance means 'fetus'. The literal meaning of substance...unformed
is used for clay not yet formed into a pot or a skein of thread
not yet woven. God says to Jeremiah, 'Before
I formed you in the womb, my eyes saw you' (Jer 1:5)
Did you know that the Lord saw
you before you were even formed? It is true. The Lord, who saw
you then, can see what you are going through now.
2. Guides you:
The Lord says,'
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I
will guide you with my eye' (Ps 32:8) Are you in the crossroads
of life? You have the Lord who promised to be your guide. He has
promised to guide you with His very own eye.
He is well able to lead you,
for he is the shepherd, the good shepherd and the chief shepherd.
He will lead you in green pastures and beside still waters. Amen!
3. Shows Himself strong
on your behalf:
Zac 4:10 says ...the
eyes of the Lord which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.
That is the world's most powerful scanner. It can scan the whole
earth. Can you comprehend that? Praise God!
2Chron 16:9 says...the
eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to
show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to
Him.
Are you running here and there
to get a hold of something? If so, you need to stop right where
you are and look up to God. Pour out your heart to Him and be
faithful to Him. You will definitely get His attention, if He
finds you loyal. The Lord will fight for you and you will hold
your peace. He will definitely show Himself strong on your behalf.
4. Watches the 'ways of
man':
Pro 5:21 says, 'The
ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord'. Pro 15:3 says, 'The
eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil
and the good'. Jer 16:17 says, 'iniquity
is not hidden from His eyes Jer 32:19 says,
'the eyes of the Lord are open to all the ways of man...to give
everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his
doing.
Is there any one who gives you
a heartache? May be the words of someone or the attitude of somebody.
Leave it to the Lord. He is the best person to take care of the
situation. He is the one who is authorized to give according to
the ways and according to the doings of people. Let God be God.
Your part is to forgive the ones who said or did something against
you. That is what is your part. Your reward will be great in heaven.
I know, it is much easier said than done. But the Lord will help
you. He is able.
Discription of the 'eyes of the
Lord':
In the vision of the Son of Man,
John the disciple says ...His eyes looked like 'a
flame of fire' as found in Rev 1:14. In another vision,
Daniel saw the Lord where His eyes
looked like torches of fire. (Dan 10:6)
And the Bible says that, 'the
Lord makes His ministers 'a flame of fire' (Read Heb. 1:7
and Ps. 104:4) God's will is that every one who serves Him will
become a 'flame of fire'. *Now, who is a minister? It refers to
every believer. Each one is called to serve.
'Apple of God's eyes' and
the 'apple of your eye'?
God says that, you and I are
the 'apple of His eye'. Deu
32: 9,10 says...The Lord's portion
is His people. Jacob is the place of His inheritance...He kept
him as the apple of His eye. Here, Jacob stands for the
children of Israel or in other words, the people of God. Zac 2:8
says...he who touches you touches
the apple of His eye. You are so precious to the Lord.
He considers you as the apple of His eye. Isn't that amazing?
This is the prayer which David prays in Ps 17:8.... Keep
me as the apple of Your eye, Oh
Lord!
Our God expects
'His Word' to be 'the apple of our eyes'.
He says it as a commandment for our own good. God's Word says
in Pro 7:2, ...keep my commands and live, And my law as the 'apple
of your eye'.
God has kept us as 'the
apple of His eye'. Are we keeping 'His word' as the 'apple of
our eye'? I pray that the 'Word of God' will become so very precious
to us in the days to come. Amen.
