CHRIST MADE
CURSE FOR US - II
By Jemima Rayan
What God intended for man to have when He created Adam and
Eve was for them to have a blessed life.
First of all the “original sin” caused by Adam
and Eve caused a great impact on the human race. The blood
of Jesus took care of the curse that came as a result of the
sin Adam and Eve committed. Galatians
3:13 says, “Christ
has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a
curse for us (for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs
on a tree”).
Secondly, when the enemy
tempts the believers, they can over come him by the blood
of the lamb. Revelations 12:11
says, “And
they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word
of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the
death.”.
But, when a believer
out of his arrogance and pride chooses to walk away from
obedience to the word of God, then he is
in a dangerous position. However, there is something more alarming
for a believer to be in such a place…the curse of fruitlessness
in the life of a believer. Spiritual barrenness is a result
of not receiving and obeying the Word of God and not having
the blessing on one’s life.
Everyone that desired
to pass from curse to blessing must pass through the same
door, JESUS. We need to recognize the
issues and then know the response. On the basis of God’s
Holy Word, we need to make our response.
There is no set pattern that every one should follow to come
out of the curse and to the blessing. There are seven suggested
steps that would help any believer get a release from the curses.
1. Confess your faith in Christ and the sacrifice in your
place:
Romans
10: 9-10 says, “that if you confess with your
mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has
raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart
one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation”.
There must be a belief
and a confession. To believe that God raised Jesus from the
dead and to confess with the mouth
that Jesus is Lord. Faith is not complete unless it is spoken.
Hebrews 3:1 says, “the High Priest of our confession.” When
we make the right scriptural confession concerning Him, it
releases His priestly ministry on our behalf. Suggested prayer:
Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of the living God and
the only true way to God and that You did on the cross for
my sins and rose again from the dead.
2. Repent of all your sins:
There may have been
many external factors like going back to previous generations
that have contributed to the curse
over your life. The root of all your problems however lies
within yourself. John the Baptist in his first message said, “Repent” (Matthew
3:2) when Jesus commenced His public ministry, He took up where
John had left off: “Repent, and believe in the gospel’ (Mark
1:15). Without repentance, no effective faith is possible.
Suggested confession: Jesus, I give up all my rebellion and
all my sin, and I submit to you, my Lord.
3. Claim forgiveness of all sins:
Unforgiveness is one
of the barriers that block the blessing of God in the life
of a believer. God will not forgive our
sins unless we ask His forgiveness. We need to confess our
sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God is faithful to perform
because He has promised us. God is just because He has paid
the price for us. Suggested prayer: I confess all my sins before
You and ask for Your forgiveness – especially for any
sins that exposed me to a curse. Release me also from the consequences
of my ancestors’ sins.
4. Forgive all the people who have ever offended you:
Mark 11:25 says, “And whenever you stand praying, if
you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father
in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses”.
If we want God to forgive us, we must forgive others too.
Forgiving another person is not an emotion. It is a decision.
God does not forgive us unless we forgive the ones that wronged
us. The ones you find it hardest to name is the ones you most
need to forgive!
Suggested prayer: By a decision I forgive all who have offended
me – just as I want God to forgive me. In particular,
I forgive … name the person or persons.
5. Renounce all contact with anything occult or satanic:
If you have involved at some time in activities or practices,
you have crossed an invisible border into the kingdom of Satan.
Whether you want it or not, Satan has regarded you as one of
his subjects. The kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan are
in total opposition to each other. Therefore in order to enjoy
the full benefits of one kingdom, you need to cut all connections
with Satan and totally cancel any claim he may have against
you.

Corinthians 6:14-15 says, “Come out from among them
and be separate says the Lord, Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you”.
6. Pray the prayer of release:
To pray the prayer for release, you have to base your petition
on the work of the cross. You do not have to earn your release.
You do not have to be worthy. God responds to us only on the
basis of what Jesus did on our behalf, not of any merits we
may have in ourselves.
If you pray with this
basis for your faith, your prayer should end not merely with
asking, but with receiving. In
Mark 11: 24, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask
for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it
will be yours.”
There are two things,
related as cause and effect: receiving and having. ‘Receiving’ is the cause from which ‘having’ follows
as the effect. Receiving is in the past tense; having is in
the future. Receiving takes place right when we pray. Then
having follows at a time and in a way determined by God. Jesus
emphasized: if we do not receive at the time we pray, we have
no assurance that we will ever have. Suggested prayer: I believe
that on the cross You took every curse that could come upon
me. So I ask You not to release me from every curse over my
life – in Jesus’ name. Lord Jesus, by faith I receive
my release and I thank You for it.
7. Now believe that
you have received, and go on in God’s
blessing!
Never analyze what form
the blessing will take or how God will impart it to you.
Leave it in God’s hands. Your
part is simply to open yourself, without reservation, to all
that God wants to do in you and for you through His blessing.
Do not limit God to doing only what you think. Suggested prayer:
Lord, I now open myself to receive Your blessing in every way
You want to impart it to me.
May the Lord help you
get to a place where the blessing will overflow in Jesus’ name.
